Ok, so here’s the thing. When people talk about travelling abroad, you always hear the same stuff – Dubai, Maldives, Thailand, Europe blah blah. But hardly anyone talks about Azerbaijan. And honestly that’s a shame, coz this country is like super unique. If you ever check a proper azerbaijan tour package, you’ll see it covers stuff that most ppl don’t even know exist.
Baku, the capital, is like two diff cities in one. On one side you’ve got these shiny glass towers, flame towers they call it, that light up crazy in the night. And then just few streets away, you’re walking inside Icherisheher, the old walled city with stone houses and narrow lanes. I remember thinking “wait am I in Europe or Middle east or what?” That’s the vibe, mix of both.
Most tour packages also take you to Gobustan. Now this place is wild. There’s rock carvings there older than some of the pyramids. Like people thousands of years back just scratching their stories on stone. And then just 10 minutes away you see mud volcanos bubbling, looks like another planet. My shoes got dirty there but totally worth it.
If your package includes Sheki, don’t skip it. Seriously, it’s a small mountain town, quiet and pretty. The Sheki Khan Palace is something else – colorful windows, painted walls, just wow. The air in the mountains also feels so fresh, kinda break from busy Baku life.
Food tho, omg. I thought kebabs are just kebabs but no, Azerbaijan has like ten diff versions. Their pilaf rice is super tasty and they eat dolma (stuffed grape leaves), which I wasn’t sure about at first but ended up liking it. And tea! Bro they drink tea more than water. Every meal ends with tea, sometimes with jam or sweets, feels really homely.
Weather depends when u go. Summer gets hot, like really hot, so not everyone will like it. Spring and autumn are best I think, not too cold not too warm. Winter is cold in Baku but if you like snow, mountains are amazing. Some tour packages even include ski resorts now.
Another reason to think about azerbaijan tour package is price. Let’s be real, Europe is expensive. Here you get a full trip, hotels, food, sightseeing for much cheaper. It’s still not crazy touristy so you save money and avoid the big crowds too.
End of the day, Azerbaijan is different. It’s not the place you hear in every Instagram influencer’s feed, and that’s the good part. You go, you explore, and you actually feel like you discovered something new. For me, that’s worth more than standing in a line in Paris for 2 hours just to take the same photo as everyone else.
So yeah, next time you’re scrolling for vacations, give this a chance. Check out some azerbaijan tour packages and see what fits your budget. You might be surprised how much you enjoy it.
